I was testing loads in a .54 percussion gun at the range a while back when an curious centerfire shooter approached my bench. After a brief exchange he told me he was a reloader working on load development. He'd been "shooting the ladder" trying to settle on a best load using a specific powder by shooting various charge weights. So I told him I do the same thing when trying to pick a load to sight in with. He asked what kind of reloading set up I used, single stage or progressive? I told him single stage was the only practical way for me to reload. He asked what type of equipment I used. I told him he was looking at my loading bench, everything I needed for my load development was on my shooting bench right in front of him and when I was done I just packed everything up in my shooting bag.
