1 in 48" twist was prevalent with most makers in america in the 18th c. Measure the originals and you'll see that was the common average in the old days not just with Hawkens. This was debated here a while back on another thread. Mr. Hinnant said that the rifling depth was a big factor and I tend to agree with that philosophy.

Back around the holidays there was a question on another website that I didn't understand...went something like:

"is a troll the way they are because the only way they can get people to interact with them is by starting a controversy?"
 
Does a internet quasi-authority know what he's talking about just because he's posted more than others or is that just to make people think he's an authority? It's hard to say.
