    Pipes and tobacco.

Just got into pipe smoking, and have been fairly curious as to what pipes, tobacco, and carrying methods would have been used historically, say from the late 1700s to the early 1800s ?

    Something....interesting...

A mate shared this amalgamation via Facebook messenger. Apparently the owner made it simply because everyone told him it couldn't be done ( I applaud that sentiment ). There is a video of him firing it but as yet I haven't managed to find out any details other than its a standard .311 barrel.

    A Nice Morning Walk

So,last night,I decided to fling a local vineyard owner if I could go hunting at his block this morning ( incidentally I helped plant the block over 20 years ago ) as my fiancé was heading up to town to pick her kids up for the weekend and I was free for the morning 😁 Well,I never received an...

    Holiday bunny

Well, now that I finally seem to have a prb load that works in my Seneca I've been itching to try it. Just so happens I'm on holidays for a week before starting a parttime butchers apprenticeship after leaving my previous job of 26 years,so Jessica and I have scooted back down the south-east of...

    Making Flints !

So I just got back from a trip down the south-east of South Australia with my better half Jessica for a bit of RnR after resigning from my job of 26 years. One of the coolest things we found down there was TONNES of flint rock. Everywhere. In piles. So of course,100kg of it came home, and I've...

Does anyone know if the pedersoli classic sxs 12g is proofed for steel shot,or use steel shot in their own ? Looking at buying one and it would be advantageous for duck shooting if it were

    Hunting Goats

After my previous success hunting goats,I decided to be adventurous this morning and instead of following the switchback track to where I KNOW the goats are watering,I decided to try working my way through the scrub and by doing so wasted a bunch of time and energy and have probably missed out...

    Swan/Rupert Shot

Does anyone here make their own swan/Rupert shot ? I've made a pretth decent sized batch, more out of interest than any real need, and I plan to use it in Gerty,my old 12g,for hunting very soon. Be interested to see if anyone else actually uses it for hunting. I have made it before, and loaded it...

Great Morning with Jessica and Jemima

Just had an excellent mornings rabbit hunt with my fiancé Jessica and Jemima the .36 Seneca. Seen 8 rabbits while hunting, and shot 4,2 each, with 4 shots. Longest shot was actually with Jemima at around 50m offhand. Truly is an accurate rifle with these maxi balls. Also just lovely to have an...

    What Do You Use ?

Just curious how everyone else carries their nitro cards/over shot cards ? I've always just carried mine in a tobacco tin or something similar, but I'm just about to make a leather tube to hold them instead as I find the tin makes too much noise.

    Gerty strikes again!

Just been out hunting with my fiancé Jessica and my old Grundmann shotgun, between us we managed to knock over 4 bunnies,3 of which were shot in under a minute. Please forgive the " modern " rifle in the pics, until I can get my Seneca worked out that's what she'll use.

    T/C Trouble's

Just recently bought a .36 T/C Hawken, and I'm having the devils own trouble getting it to shoot good groups. I've only got access to Wano 2f,and I'm using home cast Lyman .350 round ball. To get it to shoot any good at all I'm having to use 70gn of 2f and a 20 thou patch, but that's blowing the...

    Fun with old Gerty

A few years back,my recently deceased grandfather gave me an old muzzleloader shotgun he had bought off a deceased estate back in the late 40s ( nearest I can tell ). She was pretty rough,so I took her to Allan Vaisham of Green River Rifle Works in Adelaide,SA, to refurbish and give me the ok...
