What charge do you use for squirrel in your .45?

    First flint build completed

It's my first .45, after I shoot a deer it may very well become my favorite caliber too, only time will tell.

Firing my newly built flintlock *video*

Sure does, and I bet she only get a better with age.

Firing my newly built flintlock *video*

To be honest I hadn't given much thought to how my hat bill effects the pan flash

Firing my newly built flintlock *video*

I shot my newly completed .45 flintlock build yesterday. The rifle shot good requiring very little sight adjustment. I am using a hunting load of 70 gr FFFg and a .440 RB patched with muzzle cut pillow ticking. Once I get the barrel broken in a little I will try to shrink the groups a little...

    Another browning question

Considering it was between 85 and 88 degrees during the days I was browning, I'll consider it June instead of Dec/Jan...... YOu've got to love Florida

    First flint build completed

I saw some plans/blue-prints for a longrifle one time that had a cross section showing the triangle forend I used, I believe it was a Lehigh of some sort.

    Another browning question

The Browning finished and sat in an oil bath for 24 hours. I took it out yesterday and mounted it to the rifle. All looks good and I am happy with the results.

I used a TVM kit, but took a little liberty on shaping the stock to my liking.

Mountain Dewd, It's funny you say that, I may have creeped around your photo bucket album for inspiration on stock architecture ;-) I'm not familiar with Carolina guns, what makes you say rifle has Carolina characteristics?

    First flint build completed

I did the final assembly on my first build today. Its not from any particular school or style and is not HC/PC. This first flinter was built to my personal taste roughly in the Tennesse/Southern style. With a little insight from you guys it came out real nice. I'll try to get some better...

I'll try that. If it works I'll move on to neutralize and wax!

    inletting black - cleaning up

I've got plenty of inletting black left here that I will never get near again, anybody want it?

    Another browning question

I've gone through 6 coats of LMF Browning and the barrel is getting a nice even looking coverage. THe brown looks good at arms length but upon closer inspection things look different. The majority of the barrel is dark chocolate brown, but the lower portions or bottoms of the "etching" are a...

    Preparing a barrel for browning

What kind of oil are you using when you do the steel wool rub at the end?

    Preparing a barrel for browning

The barrel was quite rough requiring tons of draw filing. One flat had some real deep machining marks. After that I sanded 80, 100, 120. I am now going to go to 220 and continue with the process.

    Preparing a barrel for browning

Thanks for the info gentlemen. I'm not looking for a piece og brown glass here, I just don't want the rough pitted look I have seen some guys go for when trying to make the gun look old. The examples you guys gave are exactly the end product I want!
