    Cap and Ball Load

CoyoteJoe you are correct. The Hodgdon website gives load info for Triple7 3f for 36 caliber cap and ball pistol at 15 & 20 grains, and that info is in steel frames. No mention of brass frames or warnings about brass frames anywhere that i cold find. Pyrodex load info doesn't specify frame type...

    Newby and I need help?

Triple7 will work fine in a percussion rifle. Just put the lube on the threads, not in the flash hole or flash channel. A Q-tip works for putting it just the screw threads. Water clean up same as your other muzzle loader. I don't know about disposal of powder. steve

    Cap and Ball Load

Welcome to the forum and Thank You for your service. I'm not familiar with your Alliant MZ powder, i have used Triple7 3f powder in cap and ball revolvers. Most on this forum will tell you black powder is best (me included). You can get small amounts (or large) from Graf&Sons, but there is a haz...

    tapping my touch hole help

Drill bit size for 1/4x28 is #3 for 75% thread contact (.213"). Sorry (again) for making it sound more complex than it is. :shake: steve

    tapping my touch hole help

If you want it to be invisable after filing, you can use a smaller than #7 (.201) drill bit and start with a smaller hole than final size for the tap you use. Drill bits are often .002 undersized to allow for runout. A taper tap from a hardware store will be slightly oversized (the "h" number)...

Sweet setup. Protect your things, tweakers broke into my garage in Oregon and sole lots of stuff. I really miss my precision set up and measuring tools. steve

    tapping my touch hole help

Quarter x 20 takes a number 7 drill bit. Use a taper tap and dont run the tap all the way to the full size threads on the tap. Depending on the bore diameter and barrel wall thickness, you may want to modify the tap so it doesn't hit the other side of the inner barrel. Hope this helped. Some...

    1851 Uberti nipple problem

I would soak the cylinder in hot water for awhile, then try to slightly tighten the stuck nipple to break it loose. New nipples are available (usually) at The Possible Shop. Italy has some heavy handed nipple installers these days. steve

broken and wedge drill bit in vent hole

I would use an automatic centerpunch, Snap-on makes a good one with a replaceable tip. Try and use the centerpunch inside the flute area of the drillbit, and angle it to "unscrew" the drillbit. If the bit doesn't shatter, it will try to unscrew itself from being jamed/wedged. If that doesn't...

From percussion to flint . How difficult?

Yep, clean out screw. The drum is broken off? Is the center hole for the clean out screw still there? Is the drum that is broken off below the flat of the barrel? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get a better picture of what you have. I thought the nipple threads were boogered, but...
