    Hog hunting near San Antonio?

I just found out that I will be spending a week or so next spring in the San Antonio area and I was thinking that my son and I would take our rifles along and do some hog hunting while we're out that way. Can anyone recommend a reputable outfit to hunt with in that area? I figured some of you...

    Fire safe for powder storage.

J.D.,you certainly are right,I have tested that theory. However,I have not set fire to a full can of Goex just for the hell of it. LOL!!

    Fire safe for powder storage.

It has always been my understanding that it was safest to store powder (black or smokeless) in it's original container. If you store it in a safe you have just created a bomb. In it's original container it will burn violently but you won't get an explosion as if it were "restricted" by a strong...

    removeable breech plug

Maybe,I'm the black sheep here but I find it easier to clean my hooked breech rifles than I do my rifles with removable breech plugs. With a hooked breech rifle you patch the barrel until clean, dry,& oil. With a removable plug you patch the barrel until clean, dry,& oil,and then you clean the...

    rough breech H&R Stalker

I am not familiar with the design of an H&R Stalker but the diameter of your barrel where the load "sits" SHOULD be the same as the rest of the barrel unless it has a patent breech design and in that case the diameter of the patent breech would be ALOT smaller than the rest of the barrel so your...

    Hunting sights

The stock T/C sights with a little white paint,white-out,or nail polish added to the round "bead" part on top of the front blade works great for me in fading light.

    Powder & Lead

I carry 4 patched balls in a ball block and 4 pre-measured powder charges in plastic tubes while deer hunting. I have a small brass priming flask with enough 4f to change my prime several times if necessary, and also carry an extra flint or 2 just in case. This is for a day hunt,if I were going...

Best sights for low light situations

As said above,a dot of white paint does the trick for me too.

How often to refresh your prime ?

Thanks again, all of this makes perfect sense. I am in eastern Va. so I will keep a close eye on it. Happy huntin' to ya'll and may the good lord take a likin' to ya!! :hatsoff:

    Missed one

I too have killed lots of deer (and other fine game as well) over the years,a couple that any man would be proud of and I still get this feeling as well. I say the day your heart stops racing when you have game in your sights is the day you have lost touch with the true meaning of the hunt.
