    Shot the Harper's Ferry today.

Since the "new" wore off of the frizzen it's pretty much 100% in the ignition dept., I took off the stock brass ramrod tip and checked out the threads. They're not quite 10-32 but close enough that a 10-32 would probably fit with a little locktight. I'm probably just going to sell it off, use...

    NEED C&B DANGEROUS GAME BACKUP!

The first thing that I'd do is make sure that I had enough first gun so that I'd not need a back up gun. Then if you feel you still need one I'd look at the Ruger Old Army in Stainless. You can push a conical with a good charge of powder in an OA and it'll easily equal a 45 Colt in...

    Cleaning ?????

I've been using a tooth pick(round kind) cut in half to plug the touch hole, then I pour some luke warm water down bore, put my finger over the muzzle and shake it up a bit. I do this 3 or 4 times until the water comes out looking pretty much clean. Then I use a dry patch then one with Ballistol...

    Shot the Harper's Ferry today.

So it'd be kind of like the 1841's that were converted from 54 to 58 cal. , interesting. This one seems to spark ok. I had my doubts at first but since the frizzen has worn in a bit it touches off the powder just fine. :hmm:

    Shot the Harper's Ferry today.

No, suprizingly there's no hole in the ramrod tip to thread cleaning attachments, at least not on this one. I think this is an older gun that's just not be used since it's an Antonio Zoli built gun and most that I've seen today are Euroarms. The rear sight is a rather large "U" shaped notch but...

Irrefutable proof: lets document how effective PRBs are this fall.

Not to get off track BUT do ya'll think we sometimes "over load" our guns when shooting PRB's? I know I just shot my Harper's Ferry with a 60gr/3fg load and a .562" PRB and it shot pretty well, for most guys that'd be an "under power" load but I think if I could hit a deer out to 50-60 yrds...

    Shot the Harper's Ferry today.

Well, I just got done cleaning up the 1803 Harper's Ferry rifle that I got in a swap. It's a 58cal, not the 54 so it's not a totally accurate copy but it did shoot pretty well once the "new" wore off of the frizzen. Seems like on the last couple flintlocks that I've got that were new and unfired...

    Help identifying rifle.

Someone just told me on another forum that it's pretty much the Traditions version of the CVA Bobcat and only worth about $130. Guess I'll just hang onto it and let the grandsons have some fun. Thanks for the info guys.

    Help identifying rifle.

I tried a google on that gun, all I can find are pistols called "Pioneer", no rifles. Do you have a link I can look at for this gun. :hmm:

    Help identifying rifle.

Thanks. This one is in .54 cal so it'll probably take a slightly larger load then the 50 but then I was only going to use 80grs of 3fg in it anyway. :hatsoff:

    Help identifying rifle.

I picked this rifle up from Rebel a few months ago and need to know which model it is. It's an older Traditions made rifle, 1-66" twist, 28" bbl. Thanks. Click on the blue line to see the pic.

    repalcement ram rod

Yep, I get mine at Lowe's. Popular for over 36" and Oak for 36" and under. Just make sure you check for grain run-out and straightness and you're in like Flinn. You can always soak em' in some boiled Linseed oil by getting a 3/4" PVC tube that has one end plugged. Just put in the rod, fill with...

    Warning - Danger

Yep, water will work just as well and isn't flamable.

    Shot snake or flask or?

Just make sure to use Oak Tanned leather so that when it drys it'll hold it's shape. :v

    Buying a used smoothie

Too late, we've already worked a deal on one of my nice Jackie Browns. I'm sure he'll be more then happy with it. I know I liked it but just couldn't justify having two smoothbores when I've got other things that need paid off/taken care of. Trust me Nathan, the gun you're getting is a VERY...
