    historically based reality show idea.

@Loyalist Dave As far as Frontier House and the lack of firearms on of the true main reasons for lack of firearms was to show the other points of living in that period. They also didn't have the extra time nor insurance for firearm training etc. I happen to know one of the main Historical...

    Impossible Shots

Saw something very similar on the outdoors channel where the gentleman with the flintlock cut the card in half on his first shot. Then the host/"great shot" couldn't with three shots from his "modern" black powder rifle. The host even missed with two broadheads. It was fun to watch.

    A Couple of Questions

I have always glassed from the breech to the nose cap. I just like the idea of a solid foundation for the whole barrel. Most of the glass is thin around the barrel, I've gotten better at inletting my barrels, but it's something in the back of my head. I also color the glass so that it will be...

    First build ?

I agree with Birddog, I have a couple of books and a couple of videos and referance all of them so much my wife bought me a dvd/video player and TV for my shop. More info from other sources is always a good thing. Look at the gun building tutorial at the top of this section, good stuff.

"Lock and Load" on History Channel

Yea, Gunny may have had a few mistakes, but my wife stayed and watched the whole thing. So a big U-Rah for the Gunny on that one.

    Anne Patrick

My good friend and mentor has come across a Anne Patrick flintlock rifle. It is a very slim and light english styled rifle. I was hoping that someone might have some information about her. All we have been able to come up with is that she worked as a gunsmith for the Manton's. I will have pics...

    First deer with a ML

I remember my first deer with BP and I remember my first with my HF1803. It seems just as clear as my other first, and it was a doe also.

    Crusoe

I was able to watch the first five minutes and the last five. The rest of the time I ended up completing some honeydos before hunting season started. So all I can say is from what I saw, it might at least get some people interested in frontstuffers again.

    Barrel Length vs. Wasted Powder?

I agree compltetly with the formula but in your example I noticed that you were a decimal point off at the start. .25x.25=.0625 When multipling decimal points the answer should have as many decimal places as the numbers being multiplied together. I found that this is very important when I am...

    A newbie question...maybe 2

I had the pleasure of growing up on the wet side of Washington and have taken both deer and elk with my T/C Hawken that has a Green Mountain barrel that is a 1:70 twist. I have had just as good of results with conicals as RB. It all depends on shot placement.

    Aim small miss small

It may have been "coined" by Mark Baker, but it is the same principal that my father taught me as a 12 year old. He told me to find a small spot on the target you are aiming at and shoot that and only that spot.
