Great story, and great looking rifle. along with that nice deer. I think you have found the right load for that rifle. I do believe that Lindel would be real proud.

Very nice deer, and a very nice rifle. What county in Virgina did that one come from.

    failure to ignite cap?

When you said that you went through the lock and polished it, did that mean you took metal off of the parts inside the locks. Could be that you might have taken to much metal and caused the springs to become weak.

    Roached out TC barrel?

Years ago about 20 or close to it. A good friend of mine had a chrome lined 50cal. side lock muzzle loader. He allowed that it was easy to clean and very accurate, I know he killed a lot of deer with. I don't recall the brand, but the best I can remember is it came out of Europe.

You should have listened to your Grandpaw.

    Flintlocks and copperheads

I am glad you dispatched that copperhead. The only good snake is a dead one in my book. That's a good looking bloodhound you have there. Do you use him to track people or animals or just as your best friend.

    Finished T/C New Englander

I agree, I always thought the same thing and was disappointed with my other rifles that set higher.
