Whats your favorite Tobacco?

A really simple thing to do is to take out a small piece of your char cloth, strike an ember into it with your flint and steel, and then put the ember in the bowl of your pipe and puff away. It ignites the pipe in surprisingly short order.

I usually tent a couple of fingers over the bowl of the pipe while igniting the tobacco just as I would to evenly spread the coal with any other type of light for my pipe.

If you're around a fire at camp, just ignite a twig in the fire to light your pipe.

I have a dumb question. If one doesn't have a fire lit and wants to smoke, what's the preferred method? Light some tinder, candle stub with a fire kit? Carry an ember?

Better than that is to carry a
magnifying glass

Of course the magnifying glass won't work at night , but it will sure work during the day as long as it's not too overcast.

I have wine of the tobacco boxes with a glass in it to carry my rag tinder in. The glass only works in one direction. It looks like is equal shape on both sides but it's a one way glass.
