After looking at every available option known to man when it comes to muzzleloaders I finally pulled the trigger (yes the pun is intended). Just got off the phone from ordering a .50 cal T/C Hawken caplock with a 15/16ths barrel that has a 1 in 66 twist (non QLA!) for PRBs. I believe the barrel is 32" in length. It is a T/C barrel, not a GM. It will take possibly up to 6 weeks for it to be made and shipped. So it will be awhile before it's in my hands. Thanks to everyone for putting up with my indecisions and for offering suggestions. I'll retire the Traditions caplock to someone who wants to shoot a traditional ML but can't afford one. It's not worth much so it will be better served to be passed on.

You're gunna love it!

32 inches and 1 in 66 twist.....it dont get a whole lot better than that!

..with envy,

Brett

Congrats on your new gun. Hope you have alot of fun with it ... and I know you will.

Jim G,
Just wondering where you ordered it from?
6 weeks seems a bit long to me. I get a bit
nervous after 10 days when I order a production
M/L. I agree you can't beat T/C on warranty or
customer service. None Better.
snake-eyes :hatsoff:

I have a very early Renegade that I put a T/C 1 in 66 Twist 54 cal. My oldest son was virtually unbeatable with it. He won all the youth matches that he shot and could hold his own against the "B" Mens Class in our club.

He shot numerous 50s' with it.

You will be happy with your investment.

i ordered my renegade from fox ridge outfitters. took 8 weeks to get here. anyway, congrats on your hawken. i have one to and love it. chopper

service and warranty is outstanding,
I bought a T/C about 15 years ago a Percussion 45 Cal at a pawn shop trade off, about $25 total, I shot this gun only about 3 times a year. Then last year I pulled it out and started shooting at targets, WITH NO LUCK :rotf: I examined the barrel and noticed it is bent.
Sent it to T/C and they lazer fixed it just like they do with new barrels, put new sights, new double triggers, new ram rod, one brass barrel, new nipple, went out and tested it and then sent it back to me free of charge. Didn't cost me anything except the shipping to them.
Shoots perfect, AWESOME little gun, LIKE NEW and they also but it in a new box with instructions. They don't make 45's anymore but do have a few barrels left over in stock.

When I can buy some real black! As far as I know the Log Cabin Shop (a VERY LONG drive) is the closest to me that sells the real thing. Pyro does not fair well in a flinter. I do intend to obtain one some day though.

What a great gun! You'll enjoy it. T/C is really on top of their muzzleloaders. I just wish they'd start making some of their older models again like the Seneca, Cherokee, Patriot, etc.
