Made my first trip to Valley Forge today. I've lived within 2 hours for over a decade now, but still hadn't made it. I'm glad we did. Some of it was still closed from flooding a while back, but the newly built visitors center has a great little display. There's a small display of nicely preserved muskets, swords, and horns. I think the horns were the most impressive, both to me and my wife (who rarely shows much interest in this stuff). If you're nearby, it's worth a few hours for sure.

Valley Forge must have been a dismal place for troops to spend the winter. I try to imagine it every time that I drive through.
I am, also, about two hours away up north in Sweet Valley.
Next time you go….add on a stop at the Wharton Esherick house in Paoli. If you like wood work, it is worth the stop. Right next to VF.
