Anyone here ever try it on curly maple? I thought about mixing up some tannic aid powder and brushing that on and letting dry. Then brushing on the vinegar , steel wool.

If anyone here has used it on maple stock can you please show photos?
 
All I ever got trying it was mud color. Others make it work well. It had to be blushed (heated) like aquafortis. It’s not foolproof.
