Looking on Amazon prices are all over the place on this set. Your price is pretty well in the middle. I had a similar set that I let set in a gun shop for a couple of months and no one was interested. I finally donated it to the local Friends of the Library. It seems like most folks would rather look at the internet than read a book.

This level of detail by such a spectacular gunsmith migh be hard to find on the internet. I figure that the people who “just google it” or go to youtube for all of their information aren’t the sorts to do much gunsmithing work ( at least not more than once).

That could very well be. Howe's work along with Alvin Lynden's on gun stocking, Stock Making, are mostly about bolt actions but there is a lot of information in both that applies to muzzleloaders as well. There's one copy of Stock Making on Amazon for $175. With what a buck will buy you these days either is worth the money.
