as to the heartbreak of losing a pocket knife, my grandfather (1909-88) told me NEVER carry a loose knife in your front pocket!! Put it in your back pocket, and you will keep it. I find that to be true. Like coins, a knife will slip right out into the seat cushions in a deep seated chair or couch or carseat, whereas, in your rear pocket, it just can't do it. Now, if you're hanging upside down on the monkeybars, or doing skin-the-cat in a tree, all bets are off! To avoid losing my coins, which I DO carry in my front pocket, I always keep them in a spring-mouth coin purse, which is large enough and frictiony enough not to slide out into the seat cushions.

My all time favorite has always been the 2 blade Case XX Copperhead w/carbon steel blades. I've worn out a few of them since the early seventies. They switched over to stainless, which I just don't care for, at some point in the early eighties and shortly thereafter stopped making the design altogether. I used to pay $15 for them in the 70's. Nowadays when I pick one up from a collector they'll cost me around $70 to a $100 depending on whether or not they've been used (used, not abused). Right now I have a half dozen of them all from early to mid seventies. They're getting really tough to find these days.
