I was hunting over flat ground with little cover except for some hedges and long dry grass ,when about 150 yards away I spotted a small herd of last years fawns and does ,as they were at the corner of a hedge I decided to try and get closer by creeping along in the long dry grass , so doing the approved method I moved slowly forward until I thought I had closed the distance to where I may get a shot but would have to have a look and see where we were at.. Carefully raising my head I expected to see the deer some distance in front , but instead there in a circle around me at a range of about 20 yards looking kind of puzzled were 10 or 12 curious fawns, startled I ducked down instead of taking a shot but quickly recovered and jumped up ,this time ready but the fawns had seen enough and were heading out of there at flank speed .. Didn't get another chance that day ..
