The Students of Old-tyme Technology (SOOT) will have its next gathering at Ardenwood Forge (Ardenwood Historic Farm) in Fremont on Thursday, March 23rd...doors open at 6:00 pm, and the presentation will start at 7:00 pm. The forge will be operating, and we will also have a presentation on kerosene lanterns (their development and restoration).

The April 20th meeting will have a presentation on leatherworking and leathercraft, including information on tanning, preserving, identifying leather, etc.

At the May 18th meeting we will discuss and start planning the construction of a full-size trebuchet.

For those of you who didn't attend, Charlie Mabie gave a wonderful talk about the evolution and design of the kerosene lamp. You'd think it was pretty simple stuff but nope, it's rather intricate and there were no shortage of examples at hand for us to examine. It was a great talk and thank you Charlie.

In April, we will have a talk on leather (tanning, grading, dressing, preserving, etc).

In May, we start to plan the building of a ballista! :shake: :nono: :youcrazy:

I'll post more info closer to the date.
