The guy who made buttons for The Patriot movie, made lots of the standard "USA" buttons, and originally they wanted many different kinds of British buttons, but someone figured no one would notice anyway, and they went with a generic "GR & Crown" button which was not a copy of a real button. But just as they made Loyalist coats 'red' instead of the correct' green', sometimes you have to allow for the general public and their recognition of characters regardless of historical authenticity. Movies are made as entertainment and profit-making businesses, not just for the picky-picky collectors. Like many of us on this site!;)

See the cannons and carriages used in the field battles?

Still a good movie. Cant beat it when an angry guy grabs 4-5 long guns and a few pistols and a tomahawk and goes killin! And hats off to the two youngsters who helped.
