I don’t like the way my trigger guard on a TVM rifle fits my hand. There’s not enough length before it curls. I would like to cut and weld it. Can that metal be welded With a mig.?

If it came from TVM, I'm sure it is made out of cast steel so there shouldn't be any problem with welding it if your good at welding.

Get somebody to TIG weld it. If you fit it up well minimal filler is required and the heat is much more focused and controllable.
A TIG weld is also much softer than MIG and will be a bunch easier to file and blend in.
I just had to weld up the side of a Bridger tang from Track of the Wolf, it had a deep divot in the waist of it and if I filed out the other side to match it would have been way too narrow. I built it up about an 1/8" to give me enough to file back for full thickness. It files no worse than the parent metal. No way you could have done that with a MIG.
