I have great fun with this little 'Muff Pistol'.

11g FFFg, 207g Richmond syle elongated ball, through one 'One inch pine board' at 12 yds.

Good fun.

Yeah, it s really nice and fun. .44 It takes the same balls as I use for the Colts. In fact, the light elongated ball from the Colt 1860 mold (Signature Series). Fires from the thing v e r y nicely!

It s 2 1/2in bore is rifled and it carries that elongated ball quite true. Its aim/hit point is something that has to be learned. As it is, I m able to hit a 15in target at 30 yds. Ok, it s meant as a close in defense weapon. Still, it s fun to play around with ranged firing and so on.

Btw, this model is the finished engraved deluxe version that comes with a case and Colt style pocket flask. I re-worked the case a little bit, otherwise, the pistol was ready to go.

Screw barrel, yes. Folding trigger, box lock. It s replicated from a typical pistol of the day. c. 1850. The original had a little protrusion near the breech, on the barrel, where a tightening tool gripped the barrel. This replica doesn t have that. Ironically, it came with an awkward tool that inserts into the muzzle. Using the rifling for grip. Steel into the steel bore !! Anyway, as it is, the barrel can be turned into place easily by hand. I q u i c k l y ditched the tool.

Purchased through DGW, it s advertised as a 'Made when ordered' item. Requiring more than several months for delivery. Mine came within a month though. Not free either!!! c. $400.00. The kit version is c.$250.00. The finished one is done nicely and is of fine quality. The kit version has more than many complaints about quality of parts strength/failures etc.

I made the little slipper pouch (socket/holster) for it. Works quite well.
