Can anyone enlighten me with any information on this percussion rifle? It has a 28" barrel and is about .69 - .70 caliber. The initials [ K:R:I:C No. 28 ] are stamped on the barrel. An internet search and review of this forum has turned up nothing. Thank you to anyone who can help me out with my heirloom.

I know absolutely nothing about what it is but will take a guess, european military barrel, may have been shortened, restock, former flintlock that may or may not be original to the gun, probably not. Like I said, just a guess, someone who actually knows will surely debunk my WAG.

It's got a post mount on the tang for a raise-up peep sight, too. I was, until today, totally unaware that the indigenous populations were interested in formal target shooting of any kind. Still one lives and learns, right?
