My brother in law lives on a small farm just outside of Lubec, he has put out feed for the local population for decades. They come in the dozens to feed everyday, but he won't hunt them.
 
I used to hunt snipe, a 1st cousin of woodcock with a similar diet fetish, when I lived in Florida. The only woodcock I have seen alit on a paved road near where I was camped. It was big as a banty rooster, but alas, I had no shotgun with me,it was deer season.........robin :hmm:
