Greetings,

New to the forum. Acquired this old critter and would appreciate any assistance in garnering/gleaming any information about its origins/age.

The bore diameter is approx 5/8
barrel thickness is approximately 1/32"
the barrel is approximately 32"
the butt end of the stock is unremarkable as there is no evidence of any previous attachments
The only sight appears to be at the end of the barrel. No evidence of a sight at the trigger end of the barrel
the trigger engages at two locations - however, it fires at each engagement
there are no maker's marks other than the two marks separated by a dash (pic attached - muzzle 1 - should enlarge nicely)

as a novice, I am hesitant to disassemble the barrel and receiver section to see if any marks are located on the interior surfaces.

any wisdom shared would be greatly appreciated.
let me express my thanks in advance

-frank

Welcome to the forum, frank !

The fact of only a front sight makes me lean toward it being a smoothbore foraging piece

I can't help you out further, but would suggest re-posting your pics/question in out "Firearms Identification" section, where it might get exposure from experts that hang out there.

Around a 20ga. Might find more markings on bottom of barrel.

thank you. it has been nicely pointed out to me that there is another category forum I might post in. As I am sure has happened to all of us, when new to a forum it sometimes takes a bit to navigate one's self around - made easier by the help of fellow forum members..

thank you and will repost it.
