If, on the other hand, they were misled by the faux pins (as I believe), I would imagine they would be most interested in finding this out so they could 1) refund/replace the product for the customer, and 2) take action against the supplier. They might replace it with their power rod. I bought one of them and they look pretty rugged.

I doubt TC knowingly did this, and I believe these rods are no longer being marketed.
However I sent an Email to a contact there with the description & photos to be sure they knew.
I also asked if they'd apply credit towards a couple solid anodized aluminum rods and I'd pay the difference...waiting to hear back
