Can you imagine the surprise of an attacking Indian hoard to run up against a squad of modern solders with AR's and a couple of belt fed SAW's! Be like combining wheat long before 18th century weaponry would even be in range.

We saw a very similar thing when the Spanish wiped out the Aztecs and Mayans

You obviously have had better luck and probably a lot more experience knapping gun flints. I had couple different Knapp instructors tell me the heat treated stuff didn’t work well for gun flints, or fire starters, but I tried it anyway. They didn’t spark as well and often shattered. Might vary according to the material. Lots of different rocks in the “flint” category.
I quit Knapping after a little research showed the tribe knappers didn’t live very long, due to silicosis. And I hate wearing dust masks. :).
