I have a nice small flat rate box with lots of flat flint spalls ready for you to turn into gun flints. All the hard work is done. The flints are already flat, you just need to nibble at the edges and shape them. They all spark like the 4th of July !! At the top is an example of one I was nibbling edges front and back using a deer antler tine. If you don't have that, a common 10 penny nail will do the same thing. With the outrageous cost of flints nowadays, I thought this was a good opportunity for you to make enough to last you quite a few years. Remember to press off the flint edges on a thick leather pad or use the bottom of a leather shoe so you don't poke a hole in yourself !! Asking $10 for the flint and $10 for the shipping box. I Can do Paypal, or a snail mail payment.
Thanks ...

Pardon my ignorance but what is a spall?

An unfinished flint? The type of rock these came from?

Do you have a picture of the rock/spall these are made from?

Are they common and easily found or scarce as hen's teeth?

Many thanks.

A spall is a flat slice that is knocked off or 'spalled off' the main stone. All those flat pieces in the picture are spalls. You then can work those flat pieces down to the gunflint shape you need by pushing off little bits of flint pieces from the edges until you get the desired size you need for your lock. Just keep nibbling away with any sharp pointed tool.
