Don't know if these are any good but I Just wanted to throw this out there, Sportsmen Warehouse has Federal MZ 209 primers for $18.99 per 100
Not sure what makes a 209 primer a ‘MZ’ primer other than packaging, but 209 shotgun primers can be had for $0.05 to $0.08 each ($5 to $8 per 100) without much difficulty.
 
Muzzleloader 209's are not as hot as a shotshell 209.
You are correct, but as far performance I have not noticed any difference between brands, old or new.
