Offered today is an original civil war era Enfield Pattern 1856 Cavalry Saddle Ring Carbine. This musket has definitely seen some action. Possibly US Civil war, as the US did not mark their muskets as well as the CS. I found this in Maine from an old collection. NSN. Bbl. 21". Barrel has several well worn proofs on the left side near the breech. 3 leaf sight is missing as well as the ramrod swivel. Lock is marked “(crown) VR" behind the hammer and “1857 tower" in front of the hammer. Brass trigger guard, buttplate & nose cap. Iron sling bar does not have its ring. Iron barrel bands, sling swivels & original ramrod. Vintage leather sling, possibly original. CONDITION: barrel & lock have a medium gray patina. Lock is quite tight but functions at both full & half cock. Brass has a light mustard patina. Stock has expected dents & dings with tight cracks in front and to the rear of lock plate and to the rear of the sling bar with an old repair (using screws visible in the pics) that has stood up to me firing this weapon multiple times. As stated, swivel & leaf sight are missing. Bore is somewhat pitted but does not grab a patch. Shoots Minie's just fine too. $950
