Howdy,
I have one of the Traditions Hawken .50 cal percussion rifles. I need to put a sling on it. I got one of them types from Dixie that straps on around the buttstock (I can figure that out) but I haven't a clue on how to attach at the forend. It has a loop at that end, but no holes in the leather to "tie" it with the leather strings. I've searched and searched, all images of other types of similar slings show the forend part having holes for lacing. I'm clueless.....
Thanks!!

I have one (although not from Dixie). Had put it on a 36 CVA Squirrel rifle but never used it before I sold the rifle a couple of weeks ago. Even so it appeared to be quite serviceable and would have done the job just fine. As Bull suggested, the heavy leather lace loop just ties around the barrel. Mine has holes in the end of the sling for the lace - if yours doesn't just add them.

Here's a picture of one mounted on a rifle (I probably saved the picture from another thread on this forum).

This model works best for me, since I'm taking mine on and off all the time. Real easy to install and remove, yet quite secure over your shoulder. Rolls or folds compact for pocket or bag, so it's winners all around.

I agree with BrownBear. I have one of those that I have been using for years and have found it quite adaptable to whatever piece I'm using. Whether it's a fowler, long rifle or hawken it fits them all. And like he said, it fits in the haversack really well. I usually don't pull it out until I need it as I don't like the strap on the piece all the time. But when I need it it's there. Good product.
