Although regularly I shoot replica percussion revolvers, I always yearned to own at least one original percussion revolver for occasional use. Prices for any original US made revolver from the 1850 / 1860s in the UK are extremely high, particularly so in the case of Colts. About fifteen years ago I received a bit of a bonus from the company I worked for and as it wasn't expected, I invested in the only Colt I could afford an 1849 Pocket. I just love handling it and now keep it in a little wooden box together with some replica accoutrement's. Now that I'm retired, I recently added an original Remington New Model Navy to my growing collection which is definitely in shooting condition, so I might at last be able to compare shooting an original with a replica.
