My first muzzle loader was a Zoli Zouave. Still have it. I've often wondered if you couldn't drill and tap a different rear sight to accept the factory holes, etc? With the front sight being low, I guess you would need a low profile rear.
 
My solution was a little different, I had a piece of scrap sheet steel that was about 1/32". I cut out a sight in the rough shape I wanted and then filed down the front sight to the base.

I then Dremeled a groove in the center of the base and epoxied the sight into the groove. Next range trip I fired, filed, fired and filed, etc, until I had it dead on at 100 yards. Works good with PRB and Minie' bullets.
