I was in a local leather store today and the clerk told me the yellow deer skin was dyed that way because it "was made it look like brain tanned"...Huh? Unless my memory is that bad, that sure seems to run against the grain.If you had no access to a vendor or time to do your own hides, what would you substitute? Thanks for input.
 
"German tanned" buckskin from Crazy Crow, closest thing you can get to brain tan buck skin.
 
What Micanopy said or you can purchase GOOD braintan from several fine folks including Micanopy ....
