Hi:
What do you all that have engraving along the top of you barrel have written there? I'm building a rifle for my son and was thinking of a line like
~Wm B. For James B.~2005~.54 Cal~
What's on your gun?
Bill

Bill,
I would date it somewhere. Makes it a lot easier for the kids to sell it at a garage sale after we croak.. I usually do my name and semi-date on top flat, as in '05 ( might have been 1805?) Let'em guess.
Regards,
Terry

hey wiley hunter, i sign mine with first name initial
than full last name. you can put the year after that.
as far as dedicating the rifle to some one, if it has a
patch box, that was often done on the lid.i've seen a few
signed on the side plate also.
