What would be a decent price on something like this? I am not going to say what he wants but was wondering what the group thinks is a good starting point. It's a Isaac Haines, Lancaster style Octagon to round 38” Rice round bottom rifled barrel, Chambers lock. The stock is carved and furniture engraved.

I would like to see more pics. Still, it's hard for me to put a value on a rifle I can't hold in my hands. Chambers is one of the best locks you can get. Rice barrels are nice, too. The rifle seems to be nicely done, so I would think maybe at least $1,500? More pics, please!

Edited: I meant to say around $2,500.
No patch box..un know on the builder unfired only a few dry spark tests

About three times the cost of the parts.........Say $800 for parts, times three= about $2400. Engraving , and carving , whatever the builder wants to charge. Range sight in......$100.........This is"bargain" pricing.

I’m guessing the kit or parts set cost $1200 shipped. I don’t know anybody who wants to assemble and finish one for under $800.

I’m not seeing the carving or engraving. Hard to give a price estimate without seeing the carving and engraving.

If unknown builders are getting $2500 for that kind of stuff I'm getting back in! :ghostly:

Now Mike: I meant we don't know who the builder is. A well done named rifle can be worth a premium over a well done anonymous gun. I just bought a .62cal. Larry Mrock rifle that would bring a premium.

Well, I am going to take a drive and meet the guy that has it. I really think it's worth not passing on. I can't see me losing any money on it. Unknown or not on the builder whomever built it, looks like it was nicely done.

Is there anything I should look for as to give me a clue as to a builder?

Should be engraved on the barrel. If he could engrave the brass, he should be able to do the signature. Seems to be nicely done.

If you want to "pay" for the name of the builder, fine, but because someone is not "well known" does not mean they can't build a high quality ML. IMHO This piece would easily bring $2000-3000 to my mind.

After holding it in my hands, and the wife seeing my eyes light up she said happy early birthday...I love that woman she knew it was worth getting and also if she didn't she would hear me crying all the way home lol.
