I am from Texas but have been visiting Mid Ohio for the past week. I drove from Cleveland to Mt.Vernon last Sunday and passed by the shop in Lodi. They were open for a gun building class so I stopped and looked around. A really neat place. All kinds of museum quality stuff in one room and a pretty good size store. I looked around and saw lots of "stuff" that I want/need. while looking at one case of pistols, saw this one. Wasn't sure if I wanted to purchase or not but did go back yesterday and purchase. 45 cal, modern made boot pistol. Semi-rifled bore, hammer center mounted so this one is a point and shoot no aim pistol. About card table distance is my guess.

These are my other pistols and there is one or two not shown besides this one.

The Palmetto target pistol down at 5 o'clock in the picture. Is it a 36 or 44?

I have one of each.

The semi-rifled bore I referred to is, when we put the bore light in you could barely see the rifling. Very shallow. A waste of time in my opinion. This thing would probably be more effective as a smooth bore with shot or buckshot. What rifling is there will affect the shot greatly.
The Palmetto is a .44 I have a friend who has one also and he has made replacement barrels for his with removeable breech plugs. Trying to get him to part with one in .32 cal. Mine shoots great at 25 and 50. I shoot it in matches in Electra, TX with the Red River Renegades.

Barnettshale,
That's not "semi-rifled" it's what they called rifleing in those things. Some of them were made without provision for a ram rod and used a screw barrel system. When they were new the ones like yours were sold for +/- $60-$70.

Papa,
Yes I agree it is rifling but it is almost non-existant rifling. (semi rifling is my description and a personal opinion) Like I said, it would have been better as a smoothbore. The price on a new Pedersoli screw barrel of this type in DGW's is $150. Used ones run in the $75 range.

You bought a "New Orleans Ace" pistol, made by Classic Arms.

In their 2011 Catalog, Dixie Gunworks lists the price for the kit at $97.50 http://www.dixiegunworks.com/advan...a652f1f58a6663d0361cd&keywords=PH1305&x=7&y=9

Classic Arms is not noted for its quality. In fact I consider their "Pepperbox" to be a total waste of money.

The Ace is perhaps one of the few guns they make (I hear they are out of business now) that actually can shoot although I've heard of a few folks who got their "Snake-Eyes" double barrel pistol to fire.
