I am not really new to this, and have kinda made a hawken rifle, from a kit I put together. A T/C Conversion stock, green mountain barrel, precarved stock, and then other parts to complete. I don't think I am ready to carve my own stock but maybe could handle a little bit of an advanced kit. Any suggestions. Thinking more or less of a kentucky style rifle.

Depends on how much you want to spend on it. There are a lot of different kits and pre-carves out there and all sorts of prices to go along with them. Personally I prefer Chambers Kits. They are pricey, but there is less work to do on them over all and are fairly easy. :v

I am using my third Chambers lock. very happy with them. If you decide on a chambers kit ask for theit deluxe lock, easy on flints and very fast. You also might want to try Track of the wolf. they have many different kits with varibles with in each kit. You can get them on line or send for their catalog. If you don't have their catalog you need it. they have always been very fast with their delivery time Took a bear with one of my homemades, very satisfying. Len
