    Funny stories

Im 47 and already in tri focals. Too much office work at the computer I guess. I have hunted my farm for so many years that I know all the good spots. There is one spot in particular that is always good for turkey in the spring. You can stand at the bottom of a small cliff and call and...

Mixed shot size for tighter groups...

Steel Duplex loads aren't uncommon in commercial loads, or at least they didn't use to be. I use mixed four and six for turkey in my .12 gauge smoothie all the time. Reason being, I'm too lazy to clean out my shot bag completely so the proportion of 6 to 4 is always changing ha ha ha...

    Triple Stacking Shot?

All of those wads would blow a big ol doughnut hole in any pattern. Only use I could think of for that would be shooting around something.

Any way to lighten the trigger pull on Pedersoli Kentucky?

I usually polish the sear nose and notch, don't change the shape or geometry, just polish. Zonie has a good point as well, make sure the screws werent torqued down by an ape.

    3F powder in 12 ga.?

My twelve bore prefers 3f. It gets better penetration and throws tighter patterns. Why? who knows. I wish it liked 2f. Fast recoil sucks.

    6 or 8 guage?

You get less barrel scrub on the shorter shot column in a larger bore, less deformed flyers. Thats why my .28 will out pattern my .410 given the same weight of shot. I bet that nine pound five bore would be a real killer over some decoys.

Is it just me? Pietta rant

I have had to do some type of fitting on most every Pieta I have ever owned.

    about 12 gauge muzzleloader

Mine will put a .686 round ball onto a paper plate at less than fifty yards. I have yet to kill a deer with it but I betcha it would do it. I use 70 grains of 2f, two ox yokes and .2O patching.

Pyrodex RS or P for .44

Your rifle will tell you which it prefers. I like P pryo for my 32.

    new shotgun

If you use an overpowder wad of some persuasion the stringy, nasty, plastic fouling is not such an issue. I never had much luck getting them to pattern, at least well enough to make them worth the effort.Paper cups work pretty well, but can be inconsistant. Plug those subject lines into the...

    new shotgun

I have had one for a long time. Nice shotgun for the money. I sanded a LOT of wood off of the wrist when I got mine and cut the stock to fit me.It is the gun that I carry the most of all my ordinance. I use ox yoke felt wads as both over shot and over powder wads. Two ox yokes over powder and a...

    Flintlock Pistol Hunting!

He said at one point that it was a one in eighteen. Cool hunt. Fella seemed to be missing his right hand, took me a minute to catch on to that.

    BULLHEADS!

I used to have a picture of my Grandpa Brock holding a stringer that must of had twenty yellow bellies on it. He would skin everyone that us boys could catch. I never met anyone since that was as crazy for bullhead as he was. I am sorta the same way with perch though. MMMMM..... perch.

    POLL: Pattern Improvements ??

Also, I use felt wads soaked in wonderlube. Hmmmm.....does that count as lubing the bore? Sheiss, I give up.

    POLL: Pattern Improvements ??

I tried it at the patterning board this month. I didn't see any improvement of patterns but I did have a nice clean gun. Which I suppose would lead to better patterns if I were shooting all day. I usually swab my bore with a lubed patch every third shot so I guess you could say I do this anyway.
