    #11 vs #10 caps?

I accidnetally wound up with 1,000 #10 caps. If I size a nipple down(chuck in a drill press, threads up, apply file to side, checking often) will they work for plinking loads in my .50 Hawken? Say, 50 grs 3f Goex/PRB?

Odd little smoothbore I saw today?

It was a customer's gun(I'm a contractor, and the owner and I were talking hunting). He wanted to know if I knew anything about strange old guns. Here's the best description I can give you of it; I didn't have a camera, and doubt the guy would've wanted someone he barely knew taking pics of...

    Replacing a barrel?

I have an older Hawken, that I'm quite sure is the exact same rifle Cablea's currently offers as their Hawken. (Mine is labeled Arms Sport, Miami Fla). I have studied the pics in the catalog, and am pretty darned sure it's the same gun(due to patent breech, engraving, triggergaurd, front and...

    Hammer to Nipple engagement problem

I've noticed on one of my rifles that the hammer to nipple engagement looks wrong. The nipple is aftermarket. The hammer strikes the top corner of the nipple with its own top corner. Ignition with CCI caps is erratic. Ignition with Rem caps(#11) is much better. It looks like something is...

    Primative style speed loaders....

I've used speed loaders for long enough to learn to like them. They are just the ticket for the quick after work hunt that often gets some meat in the pot, and a feller doesn't have to carry a whole bag of gear. The trouble is they are plastic, and that just don't feel right. Every year I try...

    What's the difference? Pyro/Black

Ok, I'm sure this one has been discussed forwards and backwards, but probably gets re-discussed every time a new feller comes aboard. I am NOT trying to start a war, I just want a basic opinion. What is the difference between black powder and subs? Why were subs invented/or what advantages...

CVA SxS Pattern Help for New Feller

I just found y'all and have been reading through past threads. The more I read, the more confused I get. :hmm: I have been tinkering with a CVA 12 ga side by side that was a recent gift from my BIL. It was his Dad's, and he doesn't hunt or shoot BP. I'm trying to get the gun to pattern well...

    Hello from the NC Coast...

Hey Y'all! I've been hunting with a muzzleloader for several years and have figgured out I'm dense and uneducate in this area of my shooting. I came here to learn, and may be able to in spite of myself. I have 3 muzzle loaders T/C New Englander .50, off brand .50 Hawken type w/really purdy...
