2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........
We don't have greys or fox squirrels but we have no shortage of reds! My son sells the skins to a fur buyer at $5 a pop and the tails go to mepps. He's probably taken about 50 or 60 this year.- victor#0

.62 smoothbore as an all around gun?
I use a flintlock smoothbore 62 as an all around gun and so does my son. My sons smoothbore has a small rear sight which helps shorten the learning curve for shooting roundball but mine doesn't, it just took more practice. For roundball you will probably have to keep your shots in the 50-60 yard...- victor#0

Rifle Recommendations for a New ML Hunter
I would recommend a traditional muzzleloader, there's a certain satisfaction about doing it the old way. I shot an inline a few times many moons ago and I personally found it boring much like I found shooting a compound bow boring compared to traditional archery. Thanks for everyone's replies, we live in the Alaska bush and thanks to Starlink we now have access to the intranet. I certainly enjoy this forum! Kibler has announced a Hawken Kit in the works.
I grew up not far from Sturmkatz and back in those days quite a few of the old timers only had one gun, a single barrel shotgun. They could cut the wad for deer or use shot for small game and they were cheap enough that they could afford them. I sure don't remember anyone toting any high dollar...- victor#0
