    #11 percussion caps

I did try a Musket cap nipple but had fail to fire issues related to too soft a hammer blow. Wouldn't pop em reliably.

    #11 percussion caps

Last year I used my TC Encore because I could not find any #11 caps for my Renegade. I found one place that has a $40. hazmat fee, limit two but out of stock! Any local Texas retailers have them on the shelf?

Anyone used 45 conical on deer?

My first muzzleloader buck was taken with a Maxi Ball shot from a 45 caliber Hopkins and Allen underhammer. Loved that rifle. I think I used 70 grains of 3F and in three deer I never recovered a bullet. My next deer was taken with a round ball, found it flattened under the hide after going...

I often leave my rifle loaded for the duration of the season. Never an issue getting it to go off.

American Pioneer Powder is Back in Business & Available

That's the plan, hopefully the stainless isn't too hard to sand down.

Traditional rifle test didn't work out so well. The musket cap nipples I ordered fit my TC Renegade barrel just fine but the Nobel musket caps which look like regular #11's only larger would not easily fit all the way down on the nipple causing me to have to drop the hammer on them more than...

American Pioneer Powder is Back in Business & Available

I have shot many pounds of Pyrodex and yes it is corrosive but I have not experienced small pits being etched into the bore but I do clean thoroughly every time I shoot my muzzleloaders.

My experience with the APP powders is thin admittedly. I have burned just under two pounds of Shockey's Gold. The container I am almost finished with is 4 years old. It ignites perfectly and provides accuracy and still hits to where I sighted in the rifle when I bought the first pound more than...

    Graf and Sons HAZMAT fee

Yep the old fee is what they charged me. Only got 4 pounds though.

American Pioneer Powder is Back in Business & Available

Pardon my mistake thinking a current test of Shooters World Multi Purpose Black which is the current version American Pioneer Powder is putting on the shelf. would be of any interest. I don't have any #11 percussion caps or I would have related a test using one of my traditional muzzleloaders.

Sorry I only meant to give a current report on the Multi Purpose Black that Shooters world is putting out. I actually posted the same thing on Modern Muzzleloaders.

Well hardly an intensive test. I got my barrel (209x50 Encore) back from getting two more holes tapped for a 6 hole base, mounted a Konus 1-4x25 30 MM scope on it and put the barrel on the action. I had ordered and received 4 pounds of the MPB from Grafs. I got it sighted in pretty fast but I...

Just ordered 4 pounds of it, Multi Purpose Black 3F. May report weather permitting.

    Childish but some what effective

I cast many bullets using a metal lid from the really old lysol spray cans. Bent a spount into it and heated it on mom's gas stove when she was not home.

    Pillow ticking

I have used some pretty non descript cloth for patching with OK results. Time to order some more or check out Wally world.

Well orange windshield washer fluid for cleaning.

I burned some Pyrodex again today from my rifle. I also shot some old 3F Black I have in unmarked cans. I used the WW cleaner to swab between shots and for overall cleaning. Could not believe how few patches I had to use to get the Pyrodex fired rifle clean. The other rifle was pretty easy also...

Any #11 percussion caps to be had?

I tried several times but gave up and ordered a couple of nipples that took musket caps as I have several hundred of them.
