New 1851 Pietta Yank snub nose just arrived!!!!

I’ve noticed that when I’m shooting the snub nose that the screw inline with the trigger backs out significantly so that I have to stop shooting and screw it back in. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how to fix it??? I just got this revolver last weekend and this is my first time...

New 1851 Pietta Yank snub nose just arrived!!!!

Well I’ve had my new snub nose revolver from Dixie Gun Works for all of 3 days, haven’t even shot it yet and come to find out that the front sight (which is a small brass bead) is very loose and on the verge of coming out. Guess I’ll have to give Dixie Gun Works a call tomorrow and see if they...

New 1851 Pietta Yank snub nose just arrived!!!!

Very nice. I’m considering getting a 1851 confederate navy .44 from Cabela’s and cutting the barrel down on it myself.

New 1851 Pietta Yank snub nose just arrived!!!!

Well Dixie Gun Works finally came through and shipped the revolver I ordered last month and UPS just delivered it. Now I’ve got 2 NMA 1858 Remingtons and 1 1851 Yank snub nose Colt reproduction revolvers, now I think there’s only 2 or 3 more black powder revolvers revolvers that I’d like to get...

    Black Powder Shooting Books

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I found 2 books at Amazon.com Percussion Pistols and Revolvers: History, Performance and Practical Use. And Shooter’s Bible: Black Powder Guide. I think between these 2 books I should be set.

    Cylinder cleaning???

So it would be ok to use Rem oil or Ballistol in the cylinders?

    Cylinder cleaning???

I’m still very new to black powder revolvers, and I was wondering about how to clean the cylinder of a black powder revolver? Do I oil it with gun oil after cleaning, won’t the gun oil have a negative effect on my powder load???

New to cap & ball revolvers

Thanks for information but I found a place online called Graf & Sons that sells real black powder at a pretty reasonable price so I’ll probably be giving them some business. It’s always good to have a backup plan so I’ll add the two businesses that you provided to my address book.

New to cap & ball revolvers

Thank you for the link to Amazon PluggedNickel, maybe you can answer a question for me about black powder storage? I was storing my Pyrodex on a shelf in my hall closet until today when fedex delivered this an MTM Muzzleloaders Dry box. Is this sufficient or do I need something else?

New to cap & ball revolvers

I checked both places today and even filled out & emailed the form for Powder Inc., you’re right about Graf & Sons not carrying Remington #10 caps (I use the same on my 2 1858’s) just gives me the excuse to jump on the Harley-Davidson and ride out to Cabela’s in Fort Worth
  15. Chaco24

New to cap & ball revolvers

Checked online and Graf & Sons seems to be the cheapest place online to buy either real black powder or black powder substitute (about $2 difference) and when buying 3lbs (under $125 with shipping and hazmat fee), looks like the way to go with their shipping and hazmat rates. Powder Inc. charges...

New to cap & ball revolvers

I’m going to contact the Dallas Muzzle Loading Club today, and I purchased a Traditions™ Black Powder Revolver Loading Stand from Muzzleloaders.com. Thanks for the website info I’ll google them. I don’t mind a little road trip I’ve got a Harley-Davidson Street Bob I need to put some miles on .

    Dry firing???

Won’t the foam piece get jammed in there some kind of way when the cylinder advances???

New to cap & ball revolvers

I live in Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex (Azle), and I’m finding it very difficult to find real black powder for sale locally. Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shop only have Pyrodex RS (FFG) and Tripple 7 (FFG) in stock.

    Dry firing???

I bought the revolver brand new from Cabela’s, no previous owners.

    Dry firing???

I read that somewhere also. I noticed after firing off a cylinder of caps on my brand spanking new 8” Pietta 1858 New Army revolver that the trigger guard screw and the trigger and bolt screw had both loosened up considerably, I’m hoping that they were already loose when I received the revolver...
