    revolver bullets----v

Agnes (my '52 MGTD) gets first dibs on garage space. The rest of the garage belongs to the wife and I get what's leftover (which isn't very much). I tried using the "Garage is mine, house is yours" defense once. All that got me was laughed at.

    Anyone Mod Their Walkers?

I've noticed that if I shoot my Walker one-handed, the lever drops pretty consistently. If I use both hands and control the recoil better, it's never dropped. My typical load is 45gr of Triple7 with 1CC scoop of Cream of Wheat, 1/8" greased felt wad and a .457" roundball. I've probably only...

The Making of Outlaw Josie Wales

I've got the Uberti Repro of the '47 Walker. I only load it to 50-60 grains every once in a while when the guy in the lane next to me gets obnoxious. Only had the lever drop once so far but I heard in the lane next to me "I think his gun just broke". :-)

    .50 or .54 Caliber

Both put nice round holes in the paper at 100yds. If you're not going to cast your own, it might be easier to standardize on a single caliber. 490" balls are easy to find. .530" balls take a little looking.

    Bee's Wax

If you've got an N-SSA.org organization in your area, there is usually somebody selling beeswax in pound quantities at their gatherings. Other than that, Amazon and Ebay have been useful. Avoid the craft stores if you can. Theirs is food grade and pretty expensive.

    New Flintlock User

I've backed my flint off a bit and changed the angle to be a little steeper. I found some small divots in the frizzen face so I smoothed it down with some 800grit emery cloth. I'm hitting about 1/2way up the frizzen now and still getting sparks after 15 test fires. Thanks for all the advice!

    New Flintlock User

Thanks for the advice! I'll check the "angle of attack" and order a few dozen new flints. From my reading there seems to be a lot of debate over which type of flint is best but there seems to be a majority favoring the black english flints. I did manage to get the rifle out to the range...

    New Flintlock User

After 20+ years of percussion pistols, revolvers and rifles, I've ventured into Flintlock shooting. I'm using a 54cal Investarm Hawken and it's proving to be reliable but I'm only getting 5-6 shots before the flint edge rounds off and gets too dull to spark. The flint contacts the frizzen at...

    What capper for a revolver?

I have the Pietta '58 Remington. I use a generic straight line capper. Just grind off the last 1/16" or so of the spring fingers. (Be sure and take the caps out first) :-)

    Your first muzzleloader?

My first muzzle loader was purchased in the early 80's from a friend that needed to scrape up some money to fund his divorce. It was a generic .45cal KY kit pistol. Of course, I had learned all that was needed by watching Daniel Boone reruns. How hard can it be? Powder, patch, ball...push...

    Paper Cartridges

Looks like I'm a couple of months late to the party but I've been making paper cartridges for my C&B revolvers for a few years. I thought I'd add my 2 cents. I dump Spectracide stump remover (pure Potassium Nitrate) into a pan of hot water till it won't dissolve any more. I use tissue paper...

    Greetings from Northern Virginia

Glad I found you folks! I started with a 2nd hand .45 Ky Pistol about 35 years ago. The kids came along and I got out of it till about 4 yrs ago when an Pietta '58 Remington followed me home. I've since added a .50 cal T/C Renegade and an Uberti Colt Walker. I've jumped in with both feet now...
