    WANTED 526 round ball mold...

Thanks...I'm looking at them now. To cast a 526 ball, what size did you order? I'm thinking with the shrinkage that happens with pure lead I might order a 529.... Do you recall what size you asked for?

    School me T/C Renegade .54

Just did this with my 54 Renegade last weekend. Mine likes a 526 ball with a .15 spit patch. I put the patch in my mouth while I'm loading the powder...I use 100 grains of 3F black powder. Last weekend I was shooting golf balls off a berm 80 yards away. This weekend I'm going to try a 530 ball...

    WANTED 526 round ball mold...

Trying to figure this out...if a 526 shoots great with a .15 patch....I'm guessing a 520 would shoot with a .18 ticking patch....am I close? I know I'll need to shoot it to actually see, but is the reasoning sound?

I'll be trying 530s with a thin patch this weekend....finding a mold for a 526 ball is not happening.

    WANTED 526 round ball mold...

Yep...I tried the 526 balls from TOW too...that's how I found out my rifle likes them best.

    Just starting the journey...

I'm really warming up to this Renegade...nothing fancy but it sure works... I am starting to realize round ball molds for a 526 ball just aren't out there....and that's what I need.

    Just starting the journey...

Deerstalkert....I got the powder from a place outside Amarillo, in Claude, Texas. American traders or something like that. Just in case you need some. I envy you sir...north Idaho...I hunted there a few years ago and fell in love with the place. You have critters, plenty of public land, and...

    Just starting the journey...

So I've done some more work and have a progress report. I went down to South Texas to a friend's ranch for a final hunt for the season. I zeroed the rifle after putting the Lyman peep on the tang, and was able to hit well out to the length of his berm, which is about 85 yards. Then I tried...

    Just starting the journey...

I'm just getting into the BP cap rifle journey but I've been fascinated by them for most of my life. Ended up finding a Renegade 54 that looks unfired, so I thought if I need to tinker with it that would be fine. My thinking was I would start the learning curve and if I reach a point where I...

school me on Triple 7 BP substitute

T7 being that much hotter than black powder explains why 100 grains with a 400 grain conical felt my like butthole was kicked out. Cause it was.

school me on Triple 7 BP substitute

I knew it was hotter but was not aware it was 15% hotter....so if I'm shooting 60 grains of T7 would that be comparable to about 75 or 80 grains of real black?

school me on Triple 7 BP substitute

I use T7 and like it alot. It does seem hotter, but burns well and cleans up well. I can shoot 54 conicals 10-15 without swabbing. Goes off everytime, not like pyrodex.

WANTED Thompson Center Hawken Rear Sight

It it's the same sight they put on a Renegade, I just replaced mine with a receiver peep, so I have a complete one...again, if it's the same sight.
