    Armi San Marco

Finally figured it out. My friend Gregg Hardy took at the pistol and after a bit figured out that the trigger wasn't square. When it came down it was pushing on the cylinder. A little slimming of the trigger and the pistol is working great!

    Hammer slipping off full cock

No I don't have a set trigger on this rifle.

    Hammer slipping off full cock

I did take the whole lock apart as well and gave it a thorough scrubbing and put it back together. I will post my results when I get parts. I put in an order with Muzzleloader Builder Supply so I should get the parts on Wed. They are just a state away from me. Oh, and I did ask for a new sear...

    Hammer slipping off full cock

Wick, You are right. I shouldn't just be the spring that holds it in there. I took the fly out thinking that might be messing with the notch and all that did was make it slip out of full cock and into half cock. I think I will order a tumbler and a sear to cover all my bases and hopefully...

    Hammer slipping off full cock

It appears that the sear spring is the culprit. I held the sear lever down so that it was fully engaged in the full cock notch and then I tried to move the hammer of the lock and it didn't move. Seems that Snowdragon hit the nail on the head. Now I just need to see if I should re-temper the...

    Hammer slipping off full cock

I did check the lock out of the stock of the rifle. I did loosen and tighten the bolts to see if it was binding up the tumbler or the sear arm. None of that worked. I took and held the sear down and it stayed in place while I put pressure on the hammer. Could it be something as simple as a...

    Hammer slipping off full cock

More rambling thoughts as I sit here and ponder my predicament. The wood removal seems to have fixed the half cock problem I had at the first of my post. I also checked to make sure that swelling wood was not pushing on the rear bridle screw causing the sear to swing without the searspring...

    Hammer slipping off full cock

So with a week to go to the hunt I got out my rifle and decided to fix an issue it has been having. It was swelling with the humid weather and it was causing the hammer to fall in half and full cock without the trigger being pulled. I pulled the trigger and removed a bit of wood and for a few...

    Dixie "Tower" Pistol Rebuild?

If you can post a pic of the lock.

    Dixie "Tower" Pistol Rebuild?

Is your Sea service pistol one that was made in India? I know that Loyalist Arms is now selling just locks and maybe they would have one that would work. Kevin

    Dixie "Tower" Pistol Rebuild?

You need to get Kit Ravenshears booklet. Simplified V springs is the title if I am not mistaken. It gives step by step instructions on how to make and repair springs etc. and it is written so even I can make sense of it. I got a copy because the springs on my Loyalist kit had not been...

    Dixie "Tower" Pistol Rebuild?

Well your idea of the queene anne lock may be your best bet then. Is it just the springs that are giving you problems on the lock or is it not holding half cock or something like that?

    Dixie "Tower" Pistol Rebuild?

The cock is a replacement. The rest of the lock is original with the sides of the plate rounded. I have the modified pistol, I need to remove the cock and match it up in my Track or Rifle Shoppe catalog to a cock that I can buy.

    Dixie "Tower" Pistol Rebuild?

The pistol on top is the reworked pistol and the one on the bottom is a tower pistol. A friend did this pistol. I am looking for a tower pistol so that I can practice and see what I can come up with.

    Ottoman Rifle

Just out of curiosity where did you get your rifle? I am sure my wife's sixth sense is going off in the next room and she is ready to burst out here and tell me I can't have one. So I am just curious..... Really

    Dixie "Tower" Pistol Rebuild?

I am working on one myself right now. Trying to find other pistols that people don't want to practice on also. Researching at this point, but it looks like I am going to have to machine a few of the lock parts and make a few springs. Kit Ravenshears booklets are helping out quite a bit. I...

    2 piece tower Kentucky rifle

I am going to keep the stock that I have and try some of the modifications that you'all have posted, links, pics etc. Thanks for all of your imput. I still want to put a flintlock on it. I think I might have a Davis Queen Anne kicking around somewhere or I can pick up an old used flintlock at...
