    Daughter's Muzzleloader Build

Thanks folks Can't wait to start the next one... the joy is in the journey, as they say.

    Daughter's Muzzleloader Build

Thanks folks, it's always a "blast" seeing the kids having fun clanging steel. She's got her own powder horn and possibles bag; I also made her a brass short starter and range rod. I might add, the .36 caliber roundballs are just plain "cute" :)

    Daughter's Muzzleloader Build

Howdy folks. I haven't posted much but read a lot here, I seem to learn something every time. I started this project with the honest intention of building a scaled down rifle true to one of the Pennsylvania traditions. Unfortunately as it developed, it ended up quite a distance from authentic...

    Lyman GPR kit

What a shame - when I "built" my GPR 25 years ago I had to file and polish all the metal (lockplate, triggers, hammer, trigger guard, buttplate etc right down to the barrel wedge keys). The stock was semi-inlet and I had to final shape it. I browned all the parts, it was an intensive project but...

    32 cal stock

Yes .295" maybe even smaller - I can't recall off the top of my head what my Stevens slugged out at but I'm shooting lead sized at .310" or so IIRC (I'm out of town for a few days so can't confirm that). A lot of the early Favorites around with the tilting-style breech blocks that are looser...

    32 cal stock

Track and most of the other big houses ship to Canada no problem whatsoever, they do have some non-inlet stocks you could use. I'll add that shipping costs are no worse than within Canada for the most part. A lot of stuff is cheaper stateside than buying Canadian, in my experience anyway...

Explaination Please and what age did you start building?

13 here on my first GPR. Now I'm knockin' on 40. Not too much between then and now, but been working on my second full build over the last year (for my oldest daughter). Some restocking and other relevant fabrication here & there, in between. I agree with others, it's a relaxin' pastime. No...

    Miquelet blunderbus build

Looking great, I can't get enough of these blunderbusses for whatever reason. It'll be a while before I build one myself (too many other competing projects & priorities on my time) but I sure enjoy seeing what other folks are doing with them.

    Canadian Builder?

x6...Taylor S. is the only guy in Northern BC doing this (building muzzleloaders) on a professional level. I have personally handled & fired several of his pieces over the last couple of decades, including a wheel lock pistol he built for a fellow I knew (since deceased). It was an amazing piece...

Thanks as well. Excellent reading, very well done and useful!

    Canadian Suppliers ?

Usually takes 7-10 days from Track to get to me. I'm not on a "door-to-door" delivery route either. Have yet to have a package delayed more than a few days in customs - not to say it won't happen sometime, just to say that in my experience, that would be an exception rather than the rule.

    Canadian Suppliers ?

I've ordered a lot of items, including muzzleloader parts (barrels, locks) out of the US with no hassles at all. It really isn't an issue. There are a few small outfits in Canada but most aren't online; and none seem to have the selection of the Tracks, the Dixies etc.

    electronically clean rust in barrel

I tried this out on an antique Marlin a couple of weeks ago. It worked very well, I used a battery charger on low and the washing (not baking) soda. I could see the rust being pulled from the barrel; could not see rifling before but could after this was complete. Obviously a pitted bore, is a...

    Howdy from Northern BC

Howdy! Been shooting BP since the late '80s and built a couple of kits. Working on another now that involves a lot more detail work and found this forum; looks like an excellent resource and I prefer to contribute in return, where I may. Thank you! NCBB
