Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
If you go to the Investarm site you can see they make many similar models. http://www.investarm.it/eng-avancarica.html
They stamp the barrels for the company's as they request. Most similar models will interchange if the wedges line up.
My Deerslayer barrel is in a Safari Arm stock.
can it be welded ,?? Yes , but should it be welded, no.
There is to much going on with contamination to weld this. It just isn't worth it. Also if the vent threads are corroded out, what about the breech plug threads??
Cut it off and re breech it .
I am so happy to see this thread. I am just starting a Southern Mountain rifle , and still gathering the pieces I will need. So far I have a great stock in CM4 and a 42" GM 45cal barrel and a plug / tang . Now I have some ideas to help me pick the rest of the parts.
I get my best results with a wasp nest wad over the powder, a .690 RB and some more wasp nest over the ball in my Pedersoli . Mine actualy measures closer to a 13 ga, and is Cyl x Cyl
Shot and wad isn't a worry since I discovered wasp nests work so well in my Pedersoli SxS 12 bore, but it is round balls in the 54 smoothbore that concern me.
If I finish the bore at 540 a 530 RB and even an .010 patch will be to tight to load, I think?? of course I could go to nests or wads...
I am going to ream a junk 50 cal barrel out to a 54 smoothbore this winter and want to find the finished bore dimension I should have so I know what reamer to buy. Can anyone point me in the right direction for smooth bore sizes please. I am assuming a 54 smooth bore will not have a finished...
My 12 Pedersoli is actualy bored closer to a 13 ga. and is Cyl x Cyl. Loading with 12 ga wads was near inpossible, but 13's are easy to start with your thumb and have the same light force needed all the way down the bore from the muzzle to the breech. I tried it with round balls, .690's and the...
Great stuff. Glad everything is falling into place for you. It might be wise to stock up on a couple pounds of 3F when you have the chance.I like to have 3 or 4 cans of 3F in the box.
A pound of 4F will last a long long time, so I wouldn't worry about a second pound of that till you are down...
Interesting, but when we increase forward weight on an arrow it certainly does not make it want to tumble. Forward weight will make it want to fly weight out front , just like tying a string to a rock and throwing it. The rock, {front weight} is always out front and the string follows..
Are they talking overall length or the length with a bearing contact to the bore? and how do hollow base mini's fit into this compared to a solid flat base bullet?
