Anyone here privy to the codes used by them? Both are 38", .50 cal, and they have a TR-C after the serial #.

    sights

Now that I'm pretty healed up, I'm back at my bench and working on a gun. It's a rendition of one from Europe about the 1720's. I want to make the sights, but I can't find a picture of what they looked like about that time. I know TOW makes them and calls them "original", but I would like to see...

    charcoal blue?

I want to blue the barrels and locks of rifles I'm making, but I don't know the procedure. I've heard charcoal in a rain gutter, but do you leave it in until the charcoal's all gone? or do you take it out after you see color? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Dennis Priddy

Anyone see his fowler in the new Muzzle Blasts? That guy is an artist. I saw the beginnings of that gun when I went to the CLA show a year or so ago, we talked a long time. I told him that I got the sculpting bug from Jerry and he told me how hard it is. But now that my shoulder is on the heal...

    leather treatment

I know this isn't p/c, but I have this shirt that I made from two different elk, and it's starting to get a little stiff in places. What can I treat it(chrome tan)with that will soften it up a little without changing the color? THe girls love it!

It's time to turn the page..

I'm 66 next month, we've decided to sell the camper, and my osteo-arthritis is getting bad. My wife and I have talked about things quite a bit lately, and agree that it's just getting too hard to go hunting by myself. All the family members I used to hunt with are dead, so I've had to go it...

    help settle an argument

I got into an argument with a friend today, he knows nothing about longrifle building. But he was adamant that hot bluing was an oxidizing bluing, like the bluing on modern rifles. I said that the charcoal did not impart an oxidizing agent that would need neutralizing, and he just couldn't see...

    Phoenix horn

THis is a horn I started while I was at the National Western shoot in Arizona. I bought a small horn at the trader's row, and used my bag knife, bag axe, and some lava rock laying around to shape it mostly. Then when I got home, I added the decoration, the homemade staples and braided a strap...

    spike hawk done

I owe an apology to the person that made this, I didn't wrie it down, or it got misplaced in our move. I've got lots of off-my-feet downtime, so I'm finishing some small projects. The haft is of elm, stained with Feibing's medium brown leather dye, the grip is rawhide, and I finished it with...

    The excitement builds

My deer season starts tomorrow, and I'm ready. I have shot my longrifle and my fowling piece enough that I am confident I can kill a deer. I missed the deadline for the draw, but I got a left-over buck license for my area, and I think I'm gonna carry my smoothbore. It's just exciting to know...

    Tip Curtis smoothbores

I shot my TC with a ball for the first time today, and got a lot of beige looking stuff from the bottom of the barrel at the breech plug on my patches. After shooting it a few times, I was getting clusters of slag-looking material, and this happened for three shots. I was still getting this when...

    Happy birthday to me

I just received this from Wick, bought meself a birthday present. My wife doesn't like the idea that I pick out and buy my own presents, because she can't surprise me. She wouldn't be able to anyway! Thanks, Wick! I love it!! But I can't figure out what the little tab thingy is for or how to use...

    storing shot

Since I'm new to this fowling business, I was wondering how you guys (and ladies) store your shot? I just got back from SW in Loveland, and I'm getting more and more bags of shot, I just open a small corner to fill my shot pouch, and I've got them leaning all over my shop to keep them from...
