1860 Colt Army in CSA service

I was watching "Gods and Generals" again on DVD and caught a Colt 1860 Army being fired by a Confederate officer on the wall at Fredricksburg. My question is, did the Southern States have the opportunity to purchase 1860 Army revolvers from Colt before the outbreak of hostilities? (when...

    777 FFG in Horse Pistols

Has anyone used 777 FFG in Walkers or Dragoons? I did not want to hijack the earlier thread about Pyrodex. I have a can of 777 FFG I'd like to use in my horse pistols and I wondered if anyone else had done it and if there are any tips. I usually use Goex FFFg BP in these guns with success...

    Colt 1860 Army Front Sights

Has anyone replaced an 1860 Army or similar front sight? Mine shoots way high, and I'd like a taller one of the same style to lower the point of impact. What did you use? How did the remove the old one and install the new one?

Picture of my 3rd model Dragoon

    ASM Dragoon nipples

I came into a great deal on an Armi San Marco 3rd Model Dragoon. Does it take the dame nipples as a Uberti Dragoon? I dont know if the thread size is the same. I already have a Uberti Walker, it would be great if the nipples were the same. I was able to get the ASM revolver in near new...

Pyrodex P vs Goex FFFG BP

I've always used Pyrodex P because it was available and FFFg BP was not. I now have finally gotten some Goex FFFg and I was wandering what the difference will be? My pistols are .36 cal 51 Navy, 1860 Army, and a Walker. Is the Goex easier to ignite? Does it burn with less fouling? Are there...

Course of Fire for BP revolver matches

I'm a member of a club that sponsors a BP revolver match twce a year. We have a problem that most of our shooters are inexperienced with BP revolvers and do not complete the match. Our range is not a CAS type range but rather a bulls eye type range and the shooters are on line with 5 firing...

    seating caps on revolvers

How do you seat caps on revolver nipples? I saw a TV show (Cowboys?) where the cap was started on the nipple and seated with a peice of wood or bone. Is this a good technique?, is it safer? I have a piece of antler I can use for this purpose.

Pyrodex 44 cal 30 gr pellets

Has anyone used these? If so how did you load them? Did you use any felt wads? Do you seat the ball and break the pellet or leave it intact? I received a can of these as a present, I just wonder how to use them. Regular pyrodex P and BP I know how to use, but I'm not sure about these...
