Neck Knife for Special Quill Work Sheath

LOl the only time I carried a knife of my own to an event last year was prior to it selling or being shipped. There were a couple that I would have loved to have just kept for myself. You make a good point Wick!

Neck Knife for Special Quill Work Sheath

Thanks...I am wanting to get a similar style sheath and forge myself a knife. I am a knife maker who never has a period knife of his own.

Neck Knife for Special Quill Work Sheath

I am not sure who made the sheath, but its craftsmanship far out does my knife.

    Just a bit over 3inches.

Neck Knife for Special Quill Work Sheath

You guys may have been wondering where I had disappeared to. Just prior to the first of the year my wife Heather had some serious health problem that resulted in a hospitalization and ultimately finding out she had a somewhat rare birth defect in her pancreas that would require surgery. After a...

    New Project for Dixon 2017

Guys I have been focusing on refining my forging. The pics here are not that great due to the lighting, but his is going to be the blade that I take with me to Dixon's Gunmakers Fair in 2017. This past year I had no idea that they did judging for anything besides guns, but a member here...

    First Full Tang Knives

The color is achieved with a mixture of dye that is applied and then set with a little heat. Without the heat it will not set the best. Also these hafts are sheds that have been weathered. They are still very sound, but are dry...if that makes sense. If your interested in knowing more send me a...

    First Full Tang Knives

It actually dawned on me after the fact that it was a bit redundant lol.

    First Full Tang Knives

You are correct....my terms were misstated. Its a through tang construction.

    First Full Tang Knives

Out of the last group of knives coming out of the shop I had a hankering to do a few full tang knives. The large knife was forged from a Nicholson file and the smaller was forged from 1084. Both blades are hafted to mule deer sheds and the butt caps were forged from scrap pieces of a lower...

    A Few New Knives

Yes, the haft are stained with leather dye. They were very dry antler pieces so the dye soaked in very deep and retained the darker tint.

    A Few New Knives

I agree on the blade length...I have another knife in the works that will have a much longer blade. Stay tuned.

    Two new knives

Those blades are awesome, but there is just something about those scabbards. Great work!

    A Few New Knives

I had some extra time in the last few weeks and finished up a few projects that I had started back over the winter. Opinions and helpful critiques are always welcome. These blades vary and are of my own making and follow no real school of design. The small blades have been forged from Nicholson...

    Fighting Knife

It will be a hefty knife, but I have never made a knife like this and thought it would be a cool project.

    Fighting Knife

Yeah...I need one with a better table, face and horn, but I have gotten so attached to it that I could never get rid of it. When I started fooling around on the forge I was an 18 year old broke college student and this was a salvage that was on its way to the scrap yard; paid 40 bucks for it...

    Fighting Knife

I have been back and forth on reworking the guard...may still do it. Personally I am not really crazy about large knives, but I have never really made one and wanted a different project to work on.

    Fighting Knife

This is a fantasy knife that I have been working on for a little bit as I get time. We are in the middle of a winter storm right now and have about 16 inches of snow on the ground. While that is not much of snow storm for you guys in the north east or mid west, this is the worst storm we have...

    Custom flintlock rifle makers

Nathan Stephenson built best rifle that I ever owned. I have owned more expensive and more ornate rifles, but his was best in feel, handling and the architecture was best IMHO. He has decent time on his turn around and I would highly recommend him. Gary Tucker also built a damn good rifle for...

    One knife down

There have been a few that have been helpful, but yes most are nothing but a waste of time. I am planning to go to one of the workshops that he puts on...its very limited space and its a chunk of change for the income of a small county sheriff deputy and a fulltime college student. Like you said...
