    Pyrodex in a flintlock

For those of you who keep asking this question have a look at this video. It will go off but you better have nerves of steel and excellent follow-through. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4D3HfqrpVhk&feature=related

Falling out f love with Ballistol

I have noticed lately that the day after I clean and lube a bore with this stuff I can run a patch downbore and it comes out rusty. I never had this problem with Break Free or even the old standby LSA. I also hate the smell of the stuff. Im switching back to a better bore lube. It may be OK as a...

    Girls and Gonnes

I got the Gonne out this weekend for a little fun in the warm temperatures we are having right now. I hope they last. My son and his girlfriend came over for a visit yesterday. She is a history major so I thought she would get a kick (no pun intended) from firing the gonne. We had a blast(Once...

    1853 Enfield Re-barrel

Who is making replacement barrels for the EOA P53 Enfield. I have one that was purchased in the mid 80's that used to be a real shooter and now gives 6-8 inch groups at 75 yards. There has probably been at least 10,000 rounds put through it over the years. I would really like to rebarrel the gun.

    Blackpowder Density

I just threw 6 charges of 2F Swiss, Scheutzen, and Graf. The measure was set at 100 grains and is a Ted Cash measure with a leveling spout. I was as careful as I could be charging the measure. This is not an extremely scientific test; that would require more charges to be thrown. I would liked...

    My First Handgonne Build

All this handgonne building has gotten to me so I have put one together. It is not a copy/reproduction of anything. It is a .75 caliber, has a 10" long bore, is 1-3/16" at the breech, is 15/16" at the muzzle and is 14" overall. I proofed it with 100 grains of 2F and 2 .69 caliber balls. I still...

    Indian matchlock...

Did anyone see the Indian matchlock disection and test firing on History International last night? The way the powder chamber was shaped was interesting. It was a truncated cone with a constriction just ahead of it to keep the ball off the main charge for extra oxygen for faster combustion. They...

    CCI Musket Caps

My brother and I went to the range for a couple of hours this afternoon to burn a little powder. I was shooting a .69 flint smoothbore and he was shooting a .58 '63 Remington Zouave. The first shot he fired exploded the CCI 6-wing cap and sent a sliver of copper into his right cheek just under...

    Laser Wheelie

Well I finally got some of the parts for the Lauber wheelie cut. The fellow who actually programmed it for me missed a few but I'll take inventory of what I have and get with him on Monday. I think the ones he did cut turned out OK. Here's a pic and I am not a professional photographer! :)

    Indian Imports

I have been looking at these and was wondering if they are any good. The pic's look good but then again you don't really know how much they have been "enhanced".
